Vocals & voice-over

Record lead vocals, doubles, rap and spoken word in Nomadisedexa's isolated booth in Vienna, with an engineer in the control room and a headphone mix built around your pace.

Speaker in isolated vocal booth with large diaphragm mic

Whether you need a pop hook, stacked harmonies or a dry narration track, listeners notice the voice first. Every session therefore starts with microphone choice, level and distance before serious takes begin. The booth is roughly 8 m², kept acoustically dry, with sight lines to the 22 m² control room.

Bring a finished instrumental, exported stems or only lyrics and a melody — we adapt to your material. Sessions run at up to 96 kHz; delivery is clearly named tracks. For preparation tips see our voice guide, or reach us via contact — we usually reply within 1 business day.

Process

  1. Briefing

You send instrumental, lyrics and references. We set tempo, key and session structure and pre-select mics from our 24-channel pool.

  2. Setup

Quick mic and position comparison, pop filter, personal headphone mix. You check sound in the booth and with the engineer.

  3. Recording

Full passes, then targeted sections. The engineer flags usable takes so you do not replay everything at the end.

  4. Handover

Vocal tracks exported as WAV, optional comp of marked takes. Raw session backup kept 12 months on our side.

Who uses the booth

Solo artists, rappers, songwriters building demos, bands adding lead or backing vocals after a band session, and speakers recording short narration, podcast intros or small sync jobs book Vocals & voice-over. Loud brass or full drum kits belong in the live room, not the booth.

Participants must be at least 16. Younger artists only with written guardian consent and an adult present. We stay factual: strong takes come from preparation and calm, not pressure in the booth.

Microphones and signal path

There is no single best mic — only one that fits your voice and the song. We usually compare two setups at the start: often a large-diaphragm condenser for detail, sometimes a dynamic for loud rap or very close singing. You choose which path to keep.

Distance, pop-filter angle and headphone level shape sibilance and low end more than later processing. We note settings in the session so later mixing here or elsewhere stays consistent. Levels stay moderate to leave headroom for comping and the mix.

Headphone mix and comfort

Your mix can change anytime: more voice, less bass, a touch of reverb in the cans only. Many singers drop one ear to hear themselves in the room — tell us and we adjust bleed into the mic.

Water, a music stand and dimmable light are in the booth. You decide breaks; tired voices rarely deliver usable takes. Sessions are by appointment: Monday to Friday 10:00–19:00, Saturday 10:00–16:00, closed Sunday. Sessions by appointment only. Getting here: U3 Volkstheater or Neubaugasse, then about 5 minutes on foot along Lerchenfelder Straße. Tram lines 5 and 49 stop nearby..

Typical session flow

After setup we often capture structural parts first — verses and chorus — before doubles and ad-libs. For a typical pop song with chorus layers, many clients plan two to four hours; the half-day rate covers four hours and often fits one single.

Backing vocals are recorded separately, named by role (e.g. chorus double, upper harmony). The engineer can comment on pitch, timing and articulation if you want — or stay hands-off if you prefer to lead.

Formats, comping and archive

Default delivery is 24-bit WAV, aligned to song start. On request we deliver a consolidated lead after comping marked takes — same day if booked time allows. Pitch correction or heavy tuning is not automatic; discuss before the session.

We keep raw material 12 months, then delete. Back up your files locally. Cancellation, deposit and rescheduling are in our terms; illness follows the stated windows (free cancel more than 7 days ahead).

FAQ

Can I bring instrumental and lyrics on the day?

Yes, but you lose setup time. Better send files at least 1 day ahead so we check tempo and structure. We email via [email protected] if anything is unclear.

How many guests can sit in the control room?

One or two guests is normal. Larger groups often distract — mention it when booking.

Do you mix the song in the same visit?

Mixing is a separate service with 2 revision rounds as described there. You can mix vocals elsewhere; we deliver clean tracks.

What if I need to cancel late?

More than 7 days before the date, rescheduling is free. After that, terms apply, including deposit and one reschedule window within 48 hours under defined conditions.

Where is the studio?

Lerchenfelder Straße 45, 1070 Wien (Neubau (7.)). U3 Volkstheater or Neubaugasse, then about 5 minutes on foot along Lerchenfelder Straße. Tram lines 5 and 49 stop nearby. Parking in Neubau is limited — allow time for public transport.
