Master formats: what you need for release and streaming

After the mix comes polish for the destination. This guide explains what to expect from mastering at Nomadisedexa in Vienna — and what to send beforehand.

What mastering does

Mastering balances level, tone and gaps between songs — without remixing the record. For streaming services in Austria and abroad we deliver files accepted by common upload portals, with a reference check on our monitors.

Pricing: €88 per track, €450 for an album up to twelve tracks, including 20 % VAT. 2 revision rounds are included; clean mix sources save time (stems for mixing).

Check the master first on headphones or speakers you know well — our room is a reference, not your only listening context.

Default delivery

Typical delivery is one 24-bit WAV per track at 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz depending on the release plan. We avoid extra dither from repeated exports; the master is made from your final mix without you adding loudness tools on top.

On request we can deliver alternates: instrumental, clean, TV mix — if agreed upfront. Filenames follow a clear scheme (artist, title, version). No ZIP of cryptic short names without a readme.

Loudness and streaming

Platforms normalise playback differently. We aim at common music-streaming loudness targets without arbitrarily squashing your mix. Very hot mixes are not pushed louder — pulling back is often healthier.

Send references as links or files; we compare in the mastering room but do not promise to match a external hit. Speech-first projects follow different rules — see podcast & dialogue.

Metadata and ISRC

You obtain ISRCs through your label or distributor — we can embed them if you send codes in advance. Album title, track list and order should be fixed before mastering so gaps between songs make sense.

Credit lines belong in your release pipeline, not on our invoice. Legal questions stay with your advisors; the disclaimer applies to this guide as well.

What to send as mix

  • Stereo mix WAV with headroom (no brickwall limiter on the mix bus)
  • Same sample rate across an album
  • Track list in final order
  • References and notes on problem frequencies
  • Optional stems if master tweaks may need them

If we handled mixing, export may be direct — ask contact about handing the session over.

DDP, CD and physical

CD plants often want DDP images or specific PQ lists. We can author DDP on request as an add-on — budget time and cost upfront. Vinyl mastering is a separate brief with different HF needs; name the target medium when you enquire. If the plant spec is missing, we ask before exporting.

Fan downloads (Bandcamp, your shop) can reuse the same WAV as streaming unless a rare format is required. Promo MP3s can be discussed separately; default delivery is lossless WAV unless we agree otherwise.

Process and revisions

After analysis you hear samples or the full album master. Bundle feedback per round so the 2 revision passes stay efficient. Delivery via download link or pickup at Lerchenfelder Straße 45, 1070 Wien by appointment.

We keep master archives 12 months. B2B payment terms up to 14 days where agreed. Cancellation: terms and conditions with 7 days free notice.
